There is no evidence of the Vikings settling in Kent, but it is likely that the county suffered from Viking raids on several occasions, especially in east Kent.
The Vikings were after wealth which was mainly to be found in towns and especially in monasteries.
As Tonbridge was a still small settlement (not big enough to be called a town) and didn't have a monastery, it is very unlikely that the Vikings visited the area other than to pass through on their way to London.
The first Viking attack on the English coast took place in Dorset in 786. After 835, raiding on all parts of the English coast became frequent.
