  National LGBT History Month
30 January - 6 February 2010 - National Storytelling Week
An annual event which aims to raise awareness of this ancient form of entertainment. Over 350 nationwide storytelling events and performances were organised this year for National Storytelling Week in Theatres, Book Shops, Libraries, Schools, Museums, Arts Centres, Storytelling Clubs, Retirement Homes and Pubs!

Aims to educate the public on the importance of reducing salt in the diet and how this can be achieved in a practical way.

Christian remembrance of the infant Jesus being brought to the temple in Jerusalem. His Godly presence was recognised.
2 February 2010 - World Wetlands Day
2 February each year is World Wetlands Day. It marks the date of the adoption of the Convention on Wetlands on 2 February 1971, in the Iranian city of Ramsar on the shores of the Caspian Sea. Each year since 1997, government agencies, non-governmental organisations, and groups of citizens at all levels of the community have taken advantage of the opportunity to undertake actions aimed at raising public awareness of wetland values and benefits and the Ramsar Convention.
4 February 2010 - World Cancer Day
Cancer is a leading cause of death around the world. WHO estimates that 84 million people will die of cancer between 2005 and 2015 without intervention.
Each year on 4 February, WHO joins with the sponsoring International Union Against Cancer to promote ways to ease the global burden of cancer. Preventing cancer and raising quality of life for cancer patients are recurring themes.
This date is especially poignant for me as it was my Mum's birthday and she died from cancer two years ago.
 5 February 2010 - UNICEF Day for Change
A national non-uniform day. Day for Change gives pupils the opportunity to wear what they want for the day in return for a small donation to UNICEF.
8 - 14 February 2010 - National Marriage Week
Celebrated in churches and communities across the country - the purpose of the Week is to celebrate the importance of marriage. Marriage Week UK celebrates the diversity and vibrancy of marriage as the basis for family life in the UK.
8-14 February 2010 - WOW (World Orphan Week)
A chance to make a difference to orphaned children around the world by raising money and awareness for SOS Children. In February 2008, people across the UK from city dwellers to country folk and school kids to politicians, will be wearing something wacky, extravagant or just plain out of the ordinary to support World Orphan Week, SOS Children's annual fundraiser.

Safer Internet Day takes place each year in February to promote safer and more responsible us of online technology and mobile phones, especially amongst children and young people across the world

This is the first day in the Year of the Tiger
The traditional Chinese lunar year begins at sunset on the day of the second New Moon following the winter solstice. Chinese New Year celebrations last two weeks and end with Teng Chieh.

The aim of the Day is to help children with cancer get the best possible treatment and care, no matter where they live in the world, by raising both awareness and money.
 16 February 2010 - Shrove Tuesday (Christian) Pancake Day
Christian carnival day on the eve of Ash Wednesday, which begins Lent, a time of fasting and devotions. Pancakes are often served. It is also known as Fat Tuesday in some places. The day concludes the season of Epiphany.
21 February 2010 - International Mother Language Day
Proclaimed by UNESCO in November 1999, and observed every year since February 2000 to promote linguistic and cultural diversity and multilingualism. International Mother Language Day is on 21 February every year throughout the world.

The day when Girl Guides and Girl Scouts around the world remember each other and reaffirm their commitment to international friendship and understanding.
